Owner of Milford Auto Shop Arrested for Insurance Fraud

Faces additional criminal attempt to commit larceny charges.

The owner of a Milford auto shop was arrested on a warrant Tuesday on charges he and another man filed fraudulent flood damage claims on four heavy duty trucks, state police announced Wednesday.

Anthony Monaco, of Anthony’s High Tech Auto Center on New Haven Avenue, was charged with four counts of insurance fraud, criminal attempt to commit first-degree larceny, criminal attempt to commit second-degree larceny and two counts of criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny.

The 42-year-old Milford resident was released on a $40,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on Dec. 3 and New Haven Superior Court on Dec. 5. State police said Monaco also owns Lombard Motors on Gando Drive in New Haven.

Ronald Langlois, identified as the general manager of the Milford shop, was also charged Tuesday for insurance fraud. The 54-year-old Cheshire man posted $10,000 bond and is due in Milford Superior Court on Dec. 3.

The Connecticut State Police Auto Theft Task Force led the investigation, which started with a complaint from Monaco’s insurance carrier after Monaco and Langlois filed claims of flood damage caused by Hurricane Sandy last fall, state police said.
