All Dogs Go To Get Registered: Even Milford Police Canines

For dog owners, June means it's time to get your pup registered.

State statute requires all dog owners to renew their pet’s license annually, in June.

And that includes owners whose dog sports a badge.

So on Wednesday afternoon, police canines Cedar, Judge, Noble and Diesel were at the Milford city clerk’s office to receive their licenses.

The fee is $8 for spayed or neutered dogs and $19 for canines that are not fixed, says City Clerk Linda Stock. Owners will be charged a buck a month if they don’t register their pup before July 1, she says.

The four police dogs represent the whole of the Milford Police Department’s K9 unit.

The three German shepherds (Judge, 9; Noble, 7; and Diesel, 2) are patrol dogs and the one Labrador (Cedar, 3) is used solely for narcotics detection, says Officer Matt Lima.

If you have any questions on the procedure for registering your dog, call the city clerk’s office at 203.783.3210
