Milford police said the students engaged in sexual acts with an underage female student in a school lavatory in January.
Two Platt Tech seniors from Milford and Stratford have been arrested by Milford police in connection with an incident in January in which they allegedly engaged in sexual acts with an underage female student in a school bathroom. According to a report by the New Haven Register, the two male students were charged with second degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. The article said police investigated the incident because the girl was under the legal age of consent. The names of the two boys were not released because they were both 17 on the date of the incident.
Incidents on Clark Street and Yale Avenue resulted in disorderly conduct charges being filed this week.
Clark Street On May 13th at 02:19 a.m., Milford Police arrested Jeanna Destadio, 19, who allegedly struck a companion at a Clark Street residence. Destadio, who lives on Hillside Ave., was charged with 3rd degree assault and disorderly conduct. A court date has been set for May 14th. Destadio was released on a promise to appear in court. Yale Avenue On May 12th at 6:47 p.m., police arrested Zane Malady, 31, and Gina Marie Malady, 29, were arrested for allegedly engaging in a physical altercation with each other at a Yale Ave. residence. Zane and Gina Malady were charged with disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear in court on May 14th.

Police are looking for the suspect who they say may have robbed the store fives days ago, too.
An armed robber made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after holding up the 7-11 convenience store on Old Gate Lane in Milford last night. Police said the robbery -- the second at the location in less than five days -- took place at about 11:30 p.m. last night, May 14. The suspect reportedly entered the store holding a gun, demanded money from the register and then fled. Police said the suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’6”-5’8” in height, of large build. He was reportedly wearing black jeans and an off-white zip-up style sweatshirt with a black design on it. The man was also wearing a black mask over his face during the robbery, according to images released by Milford Police. The suspect is still at large and …
A Milford resident violated the no contact condition of a protective order.
On May 14th at 8:51 p.m., Milford resident Frank Damato, 37, was arrested after a former companion allegedly received several unwanted text messages from Damato, which violated a protective order issued by the court. The text messages were allegedly sent on March 26th, 2012. An investigation by Milford Police led to Damato's arrest. There was also an active warrant for Damato's arrest for a probation violation. He is being held for $15,000. No court date has been set.
Upset with a family member, an allegedly intoxicated Broadway resident got in her vehicle and drove it out of the driveway at a high rate of speed.
On May 13th at 03:04 a.m., Margaret Wenz, 47, allegedly threatened to drive her vehicle into a family member's parked car. Wenz then left the driveway and nearly struck the other vehicle. Police found that Wenz was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. A test revealed that Wenz had an elevated blood alcohol level. Wenz's bond has been set for $500 and her court date is May 5th.
Milford's new radio system for the Police and Fire departments will cost $3.5 million, but Milford Chief of Police Keith Mello believes the system "saves the taxpayers a considerable amount of money down the road."
Approved by the Milford Board of Aldermen back in February 2010, the new Milford Police radio system will be an upgrade from their current setup, which is omore than 20 years old and, according to Milford Chief of Police Keith Mello, "at the end of its life cycle and is no longer serviceable by Motorola." New Radio Towers While planning for this new radio project, Mello noted that the department was surprised to learn that the Police and Fire departments have separate radio infrastructures. "This meant that the Police and Fire used separate towers in many locations for their antennas, repeaters and microwave links," Chief Mello explained. Five Naugatuck teens were arrested on trespassing charges after police said they were caught on the roof of Naugatuck High School, attempting to do free running. -- A Hamden man was arrested for firing a gun to scare two children who were on his property looking for a stick to fix a broken bicycle. -- A man in Milford was arrested for stealing a $130 pair of boots from Sears at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall. -- A Milford man was arrested in North Haven for allegedly drinking and driving. Two days later, the department arrested him again – this time for allegedly shoplifting. -- A Stratford man was arrested last weekend for allegedly filiming up an unknowing woman's dress at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall in Milford.

Do news organizations that publish 911 call audio help or harm the communities they serve?
The initial shockwave that swept through Fairfield County last week after the Ramsey family tragedy changed to disgust following the decision of area news outlets to publish the graphic 911 recording, during which Mrs. Ramsey told the dispatcher that her husband was lying dead “in a pool of blood.” Patch received access to the tape but did not publish a link to it. As an American writer who considers the First Amendment our most cherished right, I believe that making 911 tapes available to the public is essential to community safety; however, are we not also human beings? Did the tape need to be released so soon after Mr. Ramsey’s tragic demise? And how—if at all—did the tape’s release advance the public’s understanding of this heinous …

Connecticut State Police have a warrant for Edward Taylor, 21, of Bridgeport, on charges of third degree assault, criminal mischief and breach of peace, in connection with an incident that occurred in April at Housatonic Community College.
State Police at Troop G in Bridgeport are asking for the public's help in locating Edward Taylor, 21, whose last known address is 145 Pleasantview Avenue, Bridgeport. Taylor, a black male, is believed to be in the Bridgeport area. State police have a warrant for his arrest on charges of third degree assault, criminal mischief and breach of peace, in connection with an incident that occurred in April at Housatonic Community College. Anyone with information is urged to notify State Police Troop G at (203) 696-2500. All calls will be kept confidential.

David, unfortunately MPD has been digital and encrypted for quite a while now. I doubt they will make the move to get back in the clear. It would be nice to listen and hear all the action but there is New Haven, West Haven, and Startford to listen to. I also monitor NYPD when conditions are favorable too.
