Old Fashion Ice Cream Social

Vanilla bean ice cream smothered in hot fudge, stacked with chocolate chip morsels, whip cream, and a cherry. And fruit, why not! You can’t forget the strawberries and bananas. This is what you have to look forward to when attending an old fashion ice cream social. Girl’s ages 11-18 are invited to attend one of two social events scheduled. This is a membership drive party for girls and women who are interested in joining the Milford Girl’s Volunteer Organization or Milford Young Women’s Club. Girls and women from any local town are invited to attend and who are between the ages of 11-17 or grades 6-12.

These organizations are members of the world's oldest and largest women's volunteer organization, the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The Milford Girl’s Volunteer Organization is sponsored by the GFWC-Milford Young Women’s Club who are women 18 to 80+. Programs that the Girl’s Volunteer Organization are involved in help to develop leadership skills through community service projects. In 2011 they also won the Milford Mayor’s Youth Award for outstanding service to the community.

Programs and projects are planned monthly throughout the year. For those that are interested in joining this enthusiastic group and would like to help cook dinners for the homeless, make apple pies for Thanksgiving, learn arts and crafts, participate in environmental projects, organize story hours for pre-schoolers, visit with veteran’s and earn volunteer credit for school or religious groups; contact Dr. Telka diFate at
