Milford Outdoor Programs Closing Due to Heat

It's been requested that parents of children in the Milford Playground Programs pick up their children as soon as possible.

On the Milford Recreation Facebook page, they posted the following announcement at 11:23 a.m.:

Per the instructions of the Milford Health Department, the Summer Playground Program will be closing for the day effective immediately. All children should be picked up as soon as possible, staff will remain on site until all children have been picked up.

Director of Recreation Paul Piscitelli noted that "the Health Department took a measurement of the heat index today and decided that the heat index fell within a range dangerous for outdoor activities."

The Playground Program involves children 5-12 years old. "Any outdoor programs have been cancelled or we've made modifications," Piscitelli said, noting that they cannot bring the Playground Program children into the schools because of construction being done within Milford Public Schools.

The Facebook post further noted:

All children should be picked up as soon as possible, staff will remain on site until all children have been picked up. In addition, on Tuesday, 07/17 the Playground Program will be closing after the children return from the movies, check with you Head Counselor for the proper time. The Recreation Department & the Health Department will be meeting on Tuesday morning to make an informed decision on the status of the camp for the remainder of the week. We understand that this may cause an inconvenience to you and your family, but we must keep the safety and welfare of our children in mind. Thank for your cooperation in this matter.

To clarify, they have 4 cats, and they're only able to take two of them, plus their 14 year old dog.Read More It was a struggle for them to even find a way to get the dog in the rental agreement, otherwise they would have tried to take them. :(

Sad that they had to leave these beauties behind. I'm sure they are heartbroken over it.

Please contact Forgotten Felines in Clinton. They are a no kill cat shelter. Offering "free toRead More a good home" pets is dangerous. There are bad people out there who take them and sell them to research labs or use them as bait in dog fighting. Please rethink this ad.
