Milford Named Top Beach Town in CT

Now we want to know: What's the top beach in Milford? Take our poll.

In a list of New England's Best Beach Towns 2012, golocalworcester.com named Milford the top beach town in Connecticut and the #19 beach town in New England.

In making the assessment "environment, walkability, lodging, eating & drinking, and beach amenities" were all taken into consideration.

Now we bring this question to you: What is your favorite beach in Milford?

Does it have the best places to lay out? Most convenient parking? Fun activities in the area? Great places to eat nearby?

Vote in our poll and let us know in the comments section where you go in Milford when you go to the beach.

Having more shoreline than any other town or city in Connecticut kind of stacks the deck in our favor. ;-) By the way, here is a link to some old postcards of Milford, if people would like to see how the beaches used to be here in Milford: http://bit.ly/NjvXhx

Great. Now there will be more people driving around my neighborhood trying to find the entrance to Silver Sands.

Woohoo! My favorite is Woodmont Beach. 2nd favorite is Bay View, since it's our beach. :)

Anchor beach because it's more of a neighborhood beach- not a lot of out-of-towers. And it's great for walks along the water.

I like my own beach also, but I'm still waiting for the repairs from the storm damage.

If only the fence at Fort Trumbull beach did not destroy any joy we might have experienced this entire Summer--our beautiful little neighborhood resembles a ghetto with the yellow tape and the 8 FT chain link fence--sad but none of us even know when to expect the repairs and it's almost a year since the hurricane...

JE wrote "Great. Now there will be more people driving around my neighborhood trying to find the entrance to Silver Sands." and George S wrote "a neighborhood beach- not a lot of out-of-towners". OK folks, now I'm one of us :-) (Coming soon to Sold!) -- how do I get on these wonderful beaches?

I would love to see buses bring residents from the new haven housing authority to all these beaches.......no one should own a beach or be allowed to build there......have suggested this to many in new haven, its there turn to enjoy these fine beaches....could happen
Milfordite September 01, 2012 at 02:45 PM
Well, Juan: there are beaches in New Haven too! No need for out of towners on another coastal city to invade another city's beaches--Lighthouse Park is beautiful too!
