Poll: Is Connecticut Jets, Giants or Patriots Country?

Show some team pride by voting in our poll.

Update on Oct. 10 at 9 a.m.

On Monday, the question was asked whether you root for the New York Giants, New York Jets or New England Patriots. Considering today's matchup, it's an apt question to ask once again. The Jets (2-2) take on the Patriots (3-1) in Massachusetts at 4 p.m..

Without an NFL team of it's own, Connecticut's allegiances are split. As of Friday, 34 percent of respondents picked Big Blue, nine percent picked the Jets, 18 percent chose the Patriots and the rest root for other teams. Depending on how today's game goes, could the numbers slide in the Jets' favor?

Original Story

The Nutmeg State is a state without a football team. But that doesn't stop Connecticut residents from rallying behind their favorite team on game day.

While there are fans of all stripes, geographic proximity has made the state home to loyal fans of one of the New York teams -- the Jets and Giants -- and New England's tried and true - the Patriots.

In this first poll in our daily series, we want to know who you root for. And don't forget to show some team pride in the comments below and tell everyone why your squad is the best.

I follow local Jets, Giants, & Pats. - I was Tampa Bay fan under Dungy. I didn't like "Chucky" Gruden. - I root for pittsburgh, due to many friends who are fans. - Jet Trivia. Last year Jets had remarkable 16 former 1st round draft picks: 8 on "D" + 8 on "O" - "D" - CB > D REVIS + A CROMARTIE (Chargers) + K WILSON LB > C PACE (AZ) + B THOMAS DL > S ELLIS + V GHOLSTON + T PRYCE (Balt) - "O" - QB > M SANCHEZ WR > S HOLMES (Pitt) + B EDWARDS (Browns) TE > D KELLER RB > L TOMLINSON (Chargers) OL > N MANGOLD + D FERGUSON + D WOODY (Pats) - Still playing at high level in NFL were former JETS # 1 DE > J ABRAHAM (Atl) LB > J VILMA (Saints) LB > J FARRIOR (Pitt) - DE Gholston was cut this year & picked up by BEARS

Die hard NY Giants fan! Growing up in our house you had no choice but to root for the Giants. Every week Sunday dinner was at half-time so we didn't miss a second of the game.

Patriots - since they drafted Jim Plunkett. Had season tix at Schaeffer Stadium back in the 70s.

I'm with you, John. As a native upstate New Yorker, I am a big fan of the only New York team that actually plays in New York! They now stand at 4-1 on the season after their win over the Eagles this afternoon. Let's go Buffalo!!
Michelle Petroccio October 10, 2011 at 02:52 PM
I follow all of the teams, I love football, but I will always be a Dallas fan. When I was a little girl, my dad was an avid Jets fan. In the good old days, there were so many FB Heroes...Troy Aiekmna, Joe Montana, Bob Greise, Joe Namath, Rosie Greer...gotaa love 'em!

Connecticut is in a unique place - no professional teams of our own, but squarely situated between two major metropolitan areas. I see and understand the appeal of the NY teams. But, I like to think of myself as a New Englander rather than a New Yorker so not being a passionate sports person, I always root for the New England teams.
Hambone24 October 30, 2011 at 11:30 AM
Milford is in the greater metropolitan New York area , and is much closer to New York than Boston or Foxboro . So I say root for the home teams , Giants, Jets , Yankees Mets , etc.... but never the Patsies or the Red Sox . Who are both known for bending the rules !
mike February 02, 2012 at 01:22 AM
Giants for sure. Even extends up to western Mass
