Game On: Weekend Sports Events at Area Colleges
Most seasons are winding down, while basketball is starting up.
The Yale Bulldogs take their Ivy League rivals the Brown Bears at the Yale Bowl on Saturday at noon. The Bulldogs are having a strong football season, with a 4-3 record (3-1 in the Ivy League). The Bears are looking even better with a 6-1 overall record. Both teams are tied for second place in the league. The visiting team in the rivalry has won 12 of the last 15 games.
The University of Bridgeport men’s basketball team takes on Fairfield University at an exhibition match versus Fairfield University tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena. Expectations are high for the UB Purple Knights. In a preseason poll by coaches, Bridgeport was picked to finish second in the East Coast Conference.
The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team is ranked tenth NCAA East Division II Regional with a 19-9 record. Their final regular season game is on the road Saturday against fourth-ranked Stonehill College.
