Blessing of the Fleet at Milford Yacht Club

Carrying on a centuries-old tradition that originated in the coastal fishing communities of southern Europe, the Milford Yacht Club will be conducting its annual Blessing of the Fleet.

This event also marks the start of the boating season for the local fishing and sailing community.

Several local clergy have been invited to this annual event. Rabbi Farbman of Temple Emanuel in Orange, Father Maroney of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church in Milford and Reverend Osmun of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Milford will bless the fleet to ensure a safe and bountiful season.

The highlight of the blessing will be the colorful procession of vessels down Milford Harbor past the Yacht Club.

This free event will feature boats of all sizes and descriptions as they pass by the club in full dress with banners and flags streaming. There will be music, food and dancing.
