A 'Special' Weekend of Bowling

The AMF Bowling Lanes in Milford hosted hundreds of Special Olympians this weekend.

Hundreds of athletes flocked to the AMF Milford Lanes  for the highly anticipated Holiday Sports Classic on Saturday and Sunday.

Coaches, volunteers and athletes filled the building with the positive spirit that is the hallmark of all Connecticut Special Olympic Games.

Talented bowlers, like William, who proudly played with a new "flame" ball, replacing his old blue bowling ball, were enthusiastic about the competition.

Each competitor had his or her own style for getting the ball down the lane. Some, in wheel chairs or with other special needs, used sloped metal ramps on which to launch the ball.

The cameraderie was evident around every corner. Everyone had fun and did an awesome job.
