Milford Students Tested Slightly Lower on CMTs in 2013

Milford scores fell in 15 of 20 grade/subject areas.

The Connecticut State Department of Education (SDE) released the results of the 2013 Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) Tuesday afternoon, with Milford’s third through eighth grade scores slipping in almost all subjects and grades.

The percentage of Milford students to score at or above proficiency levels in 2013 were generally lower than on exams given in 2012, though in some areas performance exceeded the baseline year, 2007.

The largest dip year-over-year was in sixth grade reading scores, which dropped 4.5 percentage points, from 91.2 percent in 2012 to 86.7 percent proficient. However, this year’s results are 3.4 points higher than 2007, when students tested at 83.3 percent.

(Statewide sixth grade reading scores remained relatively even, down 0.3 percentage points from 2012, but up 8.8 points from 2007.)
