Tell nbc 30 because they have it that there is a 2.5 hour delay

Milford is the only one closing early - all the surrounding towns are closed! And 1:30 is going to be right in the middle of the storm! I don't get it!

Good job Milford ! Busses on the road right in the middle of the prodicted storm ! Well played ! Milfordites go extra slow around mid day ...

Keep the schools open. Just a little snow. Seriously this isn't a big deal.

I don't mind the snow, but I do wish Milford would have followed and closed schools today, for saftey reasons.

Milford school system leadership made the right call today.

so what time is law dismissing students?
Donna B December 10, 2013 at 11:25 AM
As of 11:15 already 50 reported accidents in CT and a truck hit a house here in Milford.

The roads are fine. Just came back from errands. Sidewalks are less fine. Roads would probably be better at the regular dismissal times.
tlkensington December 10, 2013 at 11:55 AM
Donna do you know how many reported accidents happen when it doesn't snow?
Donna B December 10, 2013 at 12:23 PM
What's your point?
tlkensington December 10, 2013 at 12:33 PM
That there are probably a similar amount of accidents on a good day throughout Connecticut, and that today the roads aren't bad. Maybe to encourage people to dial the histrionics back a tad and to put things into perspective. We live in New England after all.

I found it odd that the Milford BOE chose to go the early dismissal route as opposed to closing like all the surrounding towns did. Wonder if this was due to budgetary reasons, mainly by them looking to save closures to days when the snow is super bad? Either way, as a parent with a child at Law early dismissals are the worst as it makes picking my child up very difficult and when we cannot make arraignments for pickup we (wife or I) have to leave work to accommodate. Mostly (like we did today) we had to choose to keep her home. I understand that if the snow or weather changes an early dismissal is warranted, but when the snow is being forecast as this was early this morning, I would think that canceling would have been the way to go.
