Middle School Bids Exceed Project Budget

Nine companies bid on the project, which now might have to be revised and rebid.

Bids on renovations and additions at ’s East Shore Middle School reportedly exceed by the Board of Aldermen in February.

The New Haven Register reported that city officials said the bids received for the work exceed the authorized amount by about $3 million. The project might have to be revised and rebid, officials said.

Nine companies bid on the project, which will give the school a new roof, expand the media center and cafeteria, and build new art and music rooms and four additional classrooms.

What else is new?

Tony, incompetence seems like it is new. If the bids were within 10% that would be normal and job well done. To miss by 25% is incompetent. To revise the scope of the job is not what is called for here. They already did that, the job they bid is what they decided was the minimum needed. Time to find the money and move forward. And time to fire the people responsible for projecting the budget.
