Saturday Is Market Day

Saturday's farmers' market, more than just a place to shop.

In the wee hours of the morning veggies are being harvested, breads and goodies are being baked, eggs are being gathered, coolers are being packed, trucks are being loaded, and vendors are on their way.  Saturday is market day in downtown Milford, where people gather from not only Milford, but also surrounding towns, to shop, visit, chat, and enjoy some wonderful music.

The Milford Downtown Farmers' market is also a great place to bring the children...they can listen to some music, have their face painted for free, spend some time at an interactive natural playdough booth.

The market is also a place where children (and adults)  have the opportunity to learn something, such as how wool is spun, how bees produce honey, how soap is made, and much more.  All of the vendors are "experts in their field", as they all not only tend their market booths, but they are the very ones growing, harvesting, creating and producing their products, and welcome your questions.

This market offers everything you would need to create a natural, healthy meal for the family.  There is natural grass fed beef, pork, sausage and other meats, fresh eggs and goat cheese, honey and products made from the hive, natural soap and natural made products, jams and jellies, vegetable plants, perennials, decorative plants for your garden, pies, organic baked goods, beautiful fresh picked greens, veggies, fruits and berries, fresh made soups and Brazilian empadas, sheep and alpaca fiber, and the list just goes on and on.

The market is also a place where you can give to those in need.  Each week there is a donation basket and jar at the face painting booth, where we accept non-perishable items to then be donated to a local organization.  We've located this basket in that area because we are trying to encourage children to become involved by making a donation; they can put an item into the basket and then have their face or hand painted.

Face painting is always free, and donations are encouraged but not required. While at the market there is always some great music to entertain you. This week, Robert Messore will be with us, playing his acoustic guitar.

So start your weekend off on a happy note; pick up something fresh, give a little something to those in need, visit with old friends and maybe make some new ones and come see why we are more than just a market.
