Rep. James Maroney joined volunteers at Silver Sands State Park to participate in the fifth annual MacKenzie's Beach Clean Up Day sponsored by the Walnut Beach Association and Save the Sound.

Rep. James Maroney (D-Milford) joined volunteers at Silver Sands State Park to participate in the fifth annual MacKenzie's Beach Clean Up Day sponsored by the Walnut Beach Association and Save the Sound.

“This is an example of what one caring person can accomplish when she puts her mind to it,” Rep. Maroney said. “This event goes hand-in-hand with the adoption and promise  to take care of Silver Sands by legislators. I commend MacKenzie’s steadfast environmental stewardship and look forward to many more park cleanup events. ”

Eight-year-old MacKenzie Powers is the main impetus behind this annual cleanup when, as a four year old, she wanted to do something to clean up the park.
