Who Makes Milford's Best Burger?

In this week's Readers' Choice contest we want you to tell us who has the tastiest, juiciest, most delicious burgers in town -- and what makes them so darn good?

In its purest form it's just a beef patty on a bun. But today's burgers are much more complex, with toppings that range from the classic lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and mustard to items that include everything from bacon, mushrooms, jalapenos, avocado, chili or a fried egg. You could even get a burger made from turkey meat or bison, or a veggie one, too.

When it comes down to it, you could put just about anything on a burger. And there are some great restaurants serving some incredible burgers right here in Milford.

In this week's Readers' Choice contest, we want to know which place has the absolute best burger in town. Vote for your favorite in the poll and, most importantly, rate and review the place in our directory (by clicking on the links below) and drop a comment on this article.

Here's our starter list (let us know if we're missing anyone):

Don't forget to add Red Robin to the list.

I added Red Robin. Thanks for letting me know!
Lindy Smith May 14, 2012 at 02:58 pm
The best berger of all time was Paul's
Rob Whelan May 14, 2012 at 03:02 pm
Please add Paul's Famous Hamburgers tot he list. They were the best and still are, nothing in Milford measures up to Pauls. I'll bet they will rank near the top of this list if they were on the poll.

Rob & Lindy: I was a huge fan of Paul's myself. I can't add it to the list as only current restaurants in Milford can be considered for Reader's Choice. People can give shout-outs to any restaurant in the comments section--open or closed.
The best way to show support for your current favorite place is by commenting on and rating current restaurants. Here's a link to the Paul's story we did last week: http://milford.patch.com/articles/paul-s-in-milford-what-could-take-its-place

I'm tempted to say Dive Bar in West Haven. They're RIGHT on the Milford border. By far the best. They put Plan B (overrated) to shame.

Also, downtown Milford needs a Prime 16! In addition to being a great bar with great beers, they have by far the best burger in the entire region.

Plan B in the lead just shows how you just need really good marketing and decor to succeed. Good food is secondary!

The Bear and Grill Restaurant on the BPR has a one pound burger. I found that I could not finish it. Make 4 quarter pounders out of it and feed a family for less than $10.

On the Milford Patch Facebook wall, Tracey Wheeler nominated "The veggie burger at the Kimberly Diner:)".
Side conversation: What's the best veggie burger in Milford? Or does Kimberly Diner take the crown outright?
Rick May 14, 2012 at 10:47 pm
I've tried all the restaurants in Milford. Chili's has the best burgers! Plan B is very good but can't beat Chili's.
Pam Landry May 14, 2012 at 11:07 pm
Funny the photo is a Shake Shack burger...they ARE my favorite and I have one whenever I go to Citifield. They now have a location in Westport.
arkay May 15, 2012 at 12:57 pm
Yuck! I feel like crap after eating a Chili's burger. 1800 calories of pure garbage.
JP May 15, 2012 at 01:06 pm
Yeah, Plan B is overrated. I guess all the people lining up to get in the place every day don't know what good food is and are fooled by the "marketing and decor." By the way, what marketing? I don't recall any advertising by them in newspapers, radio, or TV. The place was full from day 1 because of word-of-mouth about their other locations in Connecticut. Agree on Dive Bar having a great burger. As for whoever nominated Chili's, you should also go to Red Robbin, TGIF, Applebees, or any of the other chain restaurants -- they all sell the same mass-market, vacuum-packed junk from the giant restaurant-chain suppliers.

I'd have to say Paul's was & still is the best as far as I'm concerned. Please add Paul's to the list. If I had to chose a burger from the above list and absolutey had to exclude Paul's I would have to give it to 7seas.

They are coming to New Haven this summer. I bet they'd do really well in Milford too.
arkay May 17, 2012 at 03:27 am
Marketing doesn't just mean paid media. The logo/menu/web design, decor choices, social media marketing, email marketing, etc. is all excellent via Plan B. The end product is better than your Chili's and whatnot, but not the best in the area. Dive Bar and Prime 16 are a step above. Prime 16 also has some great marketing, hopefully they expand to Milford someday and give Plan B some competition.

what's better than than daily fresh ground chuck, grilled to your liking.... served with some yummy, wedgie fries and accompanied by the best ever home-style cole slaw you'll find.... absolutely the best burger platter in Milford!

I felt like I needed a shower after being at Chili's. That place is disgusting..

To clarify, they have 4 cats, and they're only able to take two of them, plus their 14 year old dog.Read More It was a struggle for them to even find a way to get the dog in the rental agreement, otherwise they would have tried to take them. :(
Susan Sawyer June 17, 2013 at 07:20 pm
Sad that they had to leave these beauties behind. I'm sure they are heartbroken over it.
Lisa Taylor-Austin June 18, 2013 at 09:40 am
Please contact Forgotten Felines in Clinton. They are a no kill cat shelter. Offering "free toRead More a good home" pets is dangerous. There are bad people out there who take them and sell them to research labs or use them as bait in dog fighting. Please rethink this ad.
