The Republican Response to the 2014 Legislative Session

"The only good news about this year's session is that it's over."

Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. released the following statement on the end of the 2014 legislative session:

“After campaigning against budget gimmicks, Dan Malloy spent this entire legislative session trying to push through gimmick after gimmick in a feeble attempt to hoodwink voters into giving him a second term.

“Whether he’s boasting about an imaginary budget surplus after relying on hundreds-of-millions of dollars of irresponsible borrowing, trying to buy the support of voters for $55 with a reckless tax rebate stunt, or passing a budget that covers up a deficit by assuming the state will magically find $75 million in lost revenue, it’s clear that Dan Malloy is worried more about improving his chances at re-election than improving Connecticut’s economy.

“Over the past few months, Democrats in Hartford have done nothing to improve Connecticut’s worst-in-the-nation economy. In fact, they chose to increase wasteful government spending and drive us further into debt.

“The only good news about this year’s session is that it’s over.”
