Report: '09 Milford Mayoral Candidate to Plead Guilty in Mortgage Scheme

The case reportedly involves millions of dollars in real estate mortgages.

The runner-up in the 2009 Milford mayoral election is reportedly expected to plead guilty for her role in a multi-million dollar mortgage scheme.

The Connecticut Post reports that Genevieve Salvatore “is expected to change her plea to guilty to a wire fraud charge.”

The newspaper writes that "the case involves millions of dollars in real estate mortgages that were obtained through false loan applications, loan documents and HUD-1 statements.”

Salvatore is one of five defendants in the case, the Post reports. The charge Salvatore is expected to plead guilty to reportedly carries a maximum 20-year prison term and a $1 million fine.

In the 2009 Milford mayoral election, Salvatore ran on the Democratic Party ticket and received 3,824 votes in her unsuccessful run against Republican incumbent Mayor James Richetelli Jr., who received 8,525 votes.
