MTA New Haven Line Special Train Schedule

MTA offers special train schedule for Wed., Oct. 2 through Fri., Oct. 4, increasing New Haven Line capacity to 65 percent of regular service.

Metro-North will operate additional trains on the New Haven Line starting Wednesday, Oct. 2, due to an increase in power capacity to Con Edison's temporary substations.

According to the MTA, temporary substations installed by Con Edison do not provide the full power capacity of the Mount Vernon substation, and as a result, Metro-North cannot yet operate full train service.

However, with this new schedule in place, Metro-North says their capacity on the line rises to 65 percent of regular train service.

The new special schedule in effect from Wednesday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 4, is available on the MTA schedules page.  See service details.  See Free Emergency Park & Ride Info.

On Monday the capacity was 50 percent of regular service. Also on Monday, Gov. Malloy and other officials called on MTA to issue ticket refunds.

The ordeal began last Wednesday when an electrical outage upended regular service on the Metro-North's New Haven Line.

By Thursday, service accommodated just 33 percent of regular ridership on the New Haven Line, sending commuters scrambling for alternatives, and the MTA suggesting customers stay at home.

Since last week, displaced train commuters have found alternatives to the the New Haven Line, with many making use of the Harlem Line and taking advantage of temporary parking options made available in Westchester.
