“It is the pleasure of the Board of Directors of the Milford Chamber to support such a great idea for our veterans who have done so much for all of us,” said Kathy Alagno, President and CEO of the Milford Chamber of Commerce.

"Both the  Milford  Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Milford Business Association saw the value in the idea and enthusiastically embraced it," shared Kim Rose. “I value the Ladies Auxiliary partnership with such great people, businesses and organizations. Without their help and support, this program could not be as vast as envisioned.”

According to Priscilla Lynn, Executive Director of the Downtown Milford Business Association, “The business members of the Downtown Milford Business Association are pleased to participate in this unique program, and look forward to welcoming our Veterans to the various downtown Milford stores, restaurants, and service businesses that choose to participate.”

The Milford Welcome's Veterans program seeks to help veterans by working with local businesses to offer discounts on their products, goods and services when vets do their shopping.

It's a way to show Milford Veterans that they are appreciated and a small but thoughtful way to thank them for their service. "I am so pleased to see this program get started and come to life," continues Kim. "When I attended my son's graduation from boot camp at  Fort  Sill  in  Oklahoma  I noticed that every place of business there offered service members a discount.” Rose asked herself "Why not Milford?"

Anyone who offers a professional service or owns a business can participate in the 'Milford Welcomes Vets Program.’  Simply offer a discount to any veteran that shows either a membership card to a veteran's organization, a military ID or state issued license with veteran distinction, and those who participate will receive a decal to place in their storefront window.

"Participating businesses will be featured within the VFW booklet and distributed to all Veteran's organizations within Milford," Rose concluded.
