Jackson to Lead School Security Advisory Commission

Gov. Dannel Malloy has tapped Hamden's mayor to lead the commission that will look into how to make schools safer in the wake of the Newtown shootings.

Gov. Dannel Malloy has appointed Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson as chairman of the newly-formed School Security Advisory Commission that will "review current policy and make specific recommendations in the areas of public safety, with particular attention paid to school safety, mental health, and gun violence prevention," the governor's office announced Thursday.

The commission was formed in response to the Dec. 14 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, when Adam Lanza shot his way into the school armed with an assault rifle and gunned down 20 students and six staff members including the school principal before killing himself.

Prior to the attack, Lanza murdered him mother in their Newtown home.

In the wake of the shootings, state leaders vowed to take action to make sure such an incident could never happen again, including stricter gun control measures. The formation of the commission was part of that vow.

“Shortly after the initial horror and the immediate grief over what occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, there was one question on the lips of many of our residents: How do we make sure this never happens again?  It’s the right question, even as we recognize that despite our best efforts, bad things will happen,” Malloy said in a release Thursday after holding a press conference announcing the formation of the commission.

“We don’t yet know the underlying cause behind this tragedy, and we probably never will," he said.  "But that can’t be an excuse for inaction.  I want the commission to have the ability to study every detail, so they can help craft meaningful legislative and policy changes.”

The commission will include experts in areas including education, mental health, law enforcement and emergency response, Malloy said, but its members aside from Jackson have not yet been named. It will have until March 15 to compile its recommendations, the governor said.

“This commission will look for ways to make sure our gun laws are as tight as they are reasonable, that our mental health system can reach those that need its help," Malloy said, "and that our law enforcement has the tools it needs to protect public safety, particularly in our schools.”

You better get your facts straight- the "traditional" republican party was founded on small gov, low taxation, remember "no taxation without representaton" and INDIVIDUALS, free market principles. Thats not the case today. Looks like we have one party- Politicians today seem to want to pay for votes in both parties. Give aways, special interests, pork... ONE PARTY- that's why the tea parties exists. Due to the fact that the republicans lost their way- the tea party was born. Unlike the OCCUPY MOVEMENT who want to replace the system, the tea party loves the constitution and low taxation because you cannot tax your way into prospertiy. They know that the only way to grow the economy is when people have more money in their pockets. Meaning create less corporate tax which allows them to expand and hire more people, more jobs creates more $$ for the fed gov as more people pay into income tax, more people working creates more spending power for INDIVIDUALS so they can buy more products from the corporations and thats the circle of prosperity. We all benefit.

Are you proud to live in Hamden when the local gov is screwing you every step of the way? Canal Pathway from New Haven thru Hamden into Cheshire- more crime? When the gov tries to remove the Woodin ST fence, when you have town employess that are supposed to be on the job but are home, (believe it they live on my street)- when town employees (omit fire and police) are in a union without competition- a monololy, then your local legislative council is taking orders from the UN under the UN Agenda 21. WE elected our officials to do whats best for our town - are they? As we as a nation pay 28% of the UN's budget but now our local taxes are going to their appointed NGO's, and their appointed contractors to implement this global action plan as Henrici signed onto this back in 2001. At one time Hamden was a great town. Now its crime infested and corrupt. Those are the facts.

Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is an internationally recognized scholar, author, soldier, and speaker who is one of the world's foremost experts in the field of human aggression and the roots of violence and violent crime. Col. Grossman is a former West Point psychology professor, Professor of Military Science, and an Army Ranger who has combined his experiences to become the founder of a new field of scientific endeavor, which has been termed “killology.” In this new field Col. Grossman has made revolutionary new contributions to our understanding of killing in war, the psychological costs of war, the root causes of the current "virus" of violent crime that is raging around the world, and the process of healing the victims of violence, in war and peace. He is the author of On Killing, which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize; has been translated into Japanese, Korean, and German; is on the U.S. Marine Corps Commandant's required reading list; and is required reading at the FBI academy and numerous other academies and colleges. Col. Grossman co-authored Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill: A Call to Action Against TV, Movie and Video Game Violence, which has been translated into Norwegian and German, and has received international acclaim. Col. Grossman's most recent book, On Combat, has also placed on the U.S. Marine Corps Commandant's Required Reading List and has been translated into Japanese and Korean. This is what I am talking about. look him up.

He actually teaches our soldiers to kill- and he said that those killing video games are being used by gang members, taliban, as assimilators as used in training pilot training. Condioned humans to kill and thats what these killing videos are doing to our kids. Read all about this guy- he is well respected world wide. This seems to me to be more reliable in finding out the true cause of kids on kids killing than the removal of weapons. This is cultural and happening in all of our homes- We are growing a bunch of desensitized kids to the respect of human life. Included in that statement is the conditioning of abortions are acceptable, univeral heathcare which will ration care to the newborn, young people and the elderly. Those are the facts and we as a community should be aware so we can monitor - research- to protect the next generation whether its from themselves or our over reaching gov. Something to think about. Read about this guy LT COL GROSSMAN. READ HIS BOOKS get informed before you speak out against our consitution and any of the amendments. Be an informed audience not a low information audience who votes.
