Hurricane Sandy FEMA Registration Deadline Extended

Milford residents have until January 28th to register with FEMA.


The deadline to register for disaster assistance, even if you have insurance, have registered with another company and filed a flood claim is January 28, 2013.

This includes homeowners and renters.  

You can apply by phone by calling: (800) 621-3362, online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by using a SmartPhone at  m.fema.gov

Longer version may not have made it... What will FEMA assist with? There's no emergency now -- other than a rain gutter house was back as it was once the electricity came back on and we went to the supermarket to restock the fridge. (We were lucky - minimal direct damage but a tree up the street took out wires and we had no power, meaning no heat, for 6 days.) I went through the process. I'm approved for an SBA loan, not sure how that helps. Latest from FEMA is they don't cover lost food (but they suggest I go to a food bank) and I need not just motel receipts but proof the house was not habitable. (I guess in case we all slept in one room in the Mayflower because we like the ambiance.) I have insurance but the deductible is more than our loss, and my insurance said not to make a claim (for the food) because I'd lose more when my rates go up next year. We'll all be paying for the $60 Billion (just like we've paid for similar for the south) -- I want the relief I'm entitled to.
