Help for Milford Historic Properties Damaged by Sandy

The State Historic Preservation Office has developed two new grant programs to aid with the repair and restoration of historic properties damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

Funds will be available to reimburse property owners who have completed appropriate repairs on eligible properties. The second program assists properties that remain in need of repairs.
Any property over 50 years of age and is either listed on the Natural Register or eligible for listing is potentially eligible for this grant. Properties over 50 years old and located in areas that might qualify as Historic Districts are also eligible.

The purpose of the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Assistance Grant for Historic Properties is to provide technical assistance and emergency repairs to historic and archaeological resources in counties which were impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Only hurricane-related damage is eligible for grant assistance.

The Connecticut State Historic Preservation Office, on behalf of the National Park Service, offers grant assistance ranging from $2,500 - $500,000 for the restoration of properties damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

The State Historic Preservation Office will be hosting a public information session on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Milford City Hall, 110 River St., Milford, CT.
