CT Gov. Malloy Endorsed by Teachers Union

Unions are wary that Foley will try to strip their collective bargaining rights.

Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Foley appears to be public enemy #1 for unions as the American Federation of Teachers Connecticut endorsed Gov. Dannel P. Malloy for reelection this week, the New Haven Register and CTNewsJunkie report.

The union represents 29,000 teachers, healthcare workers, state employees and higher education members. Foley in the past has made some comments alluding to bringing Wisconsin to Connecticut, which some union members have taken as a threat regarding their collective bargaining rights, the Register reports.

Foley has told the Register that he would not look to reopen contracts with unions and he was opposed to layoffs.
