Pressure on Shays

A daily roundup of news and updates from the campaign trail.

Senate

Linda McMahon is the leading Republican in the polls, and the pressure is on Chris Shays to close the gap. Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia told the Greenwich Time that Shays “might want to consider” dropping out of the race.

Chris Murphy (D): The congressman is holding a “bipartisan town hall” meeting with U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (R-Illionois) at the Whitestone Tavern in New Britain at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D): Democrats in the House say they are being left out of the free trade discussions being led by the Obama administration, reports Fox News. More than 100 Democrats, led by DeLauro, wrote to the administration,"there is ample opportunity for Congress to have input on critical policies that will have broad ramifications for years to come.”

Wayne Winsley (R) recently made an appearance recently on the Exceptional Conservative Show.

Fourth District

One of the hottest political issues is the controversy surrounding Eric Holder, the attorney general, and his alleged involvement in the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal.  Incumbent Jim Himes says it’s purely political.

"This is a nakedly political moment," Himes told the Greenwich Time.
His opponent, Steve Obsitnik, brought up the death of a border patrol agent who was killed by a gun involved in the government’s gunrunning scheme.

"Agent Brian Terry and his family deserve a fair accounting of the facts of the case," Obsitnik said in a statement published by the Greenwich Time. "His service shouldn't be muddied by political posturing in Washington from either side of the aisle."

Fifth District

Chris Donovan (D): Perhaps unsurprisingly, Chris Donovan, the leading Democrat in the fifth district race, received the endorsement of liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org, reports the Register Citizen

Andrew Roraback (R): The fundraising quarter is coming to a close on June 30. On Facebook, Roraback asks supporters for donations.

I don't mind more pizza if its good pizza. There are plenty of horrible and so-so pizza places inRead More Milford. Currently 314 B-port Ave is a boarded up building with a parking lot where cops love to sit. Either this will prevent cops from sitting their or will cause them to sit there more. Also ladies, Milford is known for its P's: pizza, porn, package, and pawn.

I second Christina! Is no one listening? we are up to our ears in pizza! Im pretty sure we have moreRead More pizza in milford than new haven! Where is this trailer going to park at the devon market!? the traffic the market creates is bad enough for people that live in that area without a mobile oven rolling on in! I hope they have thought of that issue at the very least!
