Ben Blake Campaigns on Gulf Street

Democratic mayoral hopeful Ben Blake is joined by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) for a stroll along Gulf Street to talk to residents.

Milford Patch has asked the mayoral candidates to allow us to video them on the campaign trail -- as their schedules permit.

This is the first of an occasional series.

Enjoy the video!

Politicians of all stripes - go out and meet your neighbors. They're nice people and they're more knowledgeable than you may think. Get walking.

What a waste of time. This video didn't provide anything if substance about the candidate. The barking dog drowned out whatever was said at one stop. And what was the purpose of Rosa tagging along? Again, a waste of time. I hope future 'occasional' videos are more than a bit more insformative.

I know right, why would the democrat Rosa team up with a democrat running for mayor and go walking together. Does not make sense to me.
Shelley Stoehr September 28, 2011 at 01:07 PM
It's unfortunate that few people were home for the filming of this video, but I'm sure Blake will go out walking again, as will the other two mayoral candidates.

Real life is not scripted. Dogs bark, people tag along with one another for obvious and, apparently, not so obvious reasons. It was a true slice of life. Good job Shelley!

I liked it too. This short video really captured the feeling I've experienced canvasing door-to-door. Lots of dogs. Mostly nice ones.

Despite what you all believe, I disagree with you all. Building and supporting the N.H. Communist party, and the Communist U.S.A. Party is highly disrespectful to the countless veterans of the Korean and Vietnam wars who have lost their family members trying to stop the spread of Communism world wide. All evil movements start off as being kind, friendly and supportive to the people just research history. The fact that Ben Blake is "sucking up" to a Communist sympathiser and alledging to be supportive of local Veterans is an unbelievable and incredidble act of disrespect. Why don't you all just ask a veteran, a person whose friends, family members, brothers and sisters were shot at by them... ask them if Communists are "Friendly and Trustworthy and nothing to worry about." This kind of behavior is appalling and you are Damn Right I would Kick her right the Hell out of our town untill such time as she publically admits that there is no place for Communism in America or Milford. Shame on Ben Blake his actions are very upsetting. Just Google, Rosa Delauro & Communist ties.

My first post should really have been just the first sentence. I don't agree with Rosa's politics, but I wasn't intending any insult. And, of course it probably benefits the democrat candidate for mayor that she's side-by-side with him. My point was and is that there's nothing to be learned from the video. I'd like to know more about what Mr. Blake and Mr. Joy stand for. I'd sure like the Patch to invite them each to write a series of position papers.

Mr. Frank, I nearly flagged this comment as inappropriate. It contains an outright lie (that Rosa DeLauro is "a Communist sympathiser") and, based on that lie, attempts another one, that somehow Ben Blake is not supportive of veterans. This kind of thinking, if one can call it that, has no place in our politics, local or national, and I wish you would keep it out of the discussions on these pages.

Great idea, Bob! We'll get on that.

Alice Google her name, do your own research and you will realize that this is deadly serious. It is not a lie it is a fact! If you have trouble getting the information I will send you photos and links of Ms Delauro at Communist meetings in N.H., and I will provide you with volumes of publically availabe information. If you do not want the public to know the truth about who are candidates are associating with that is one thing, but to call this a fabrication is little more than disinformation and double think. There is a great many people here who know the truth about Ms. Delauro but for whatever reason only grumble about it in private meetings. That is not me, I call "a Spade a Spade." Sometimes its hard to accept but the results of the Bush, Cheney, Pelosi, Reed, Delauro era is right infront of our noses and none of us are better off today because their efforts. If you believe in a strong America, then you must believe in America Values and American Free market ideals.

Alice as for Blake, I do not think Blake thought his association through. I have heard a great many stories from my family members. Some fought Communism in Vietnam others Fought in Korea. I have lost Uncles, Friends and some people whom my parents and grandparents really cared about and admired. I will never know what it was like growing up without them because their lives were lost due to the U.S. war on Communism. What makes me different from my opponents is that I think things through, I do not just go celebrity shopping and pretend that there is no need to think things through because the public has no idea. Unlike Blake, I remember and to this day many of my friends from Military school are still keeping the Korean Border safe and supporting Nato. I do not pretend to support jingoism in any way but I do support, love and respect the great many people who do what they must even when they disagree with the decisions of the very individuals who put them in harms way.

Alice Google Rocco Frank and you will read about a man who believes that Jews have too much control over American government and that the CIA is genetically manipulating the genes of mice to turn them into humans. And Rocco. Stop calling people "Spades."

LOL MIke, you have not lost your sense of humor send my best to your friends in N.H.

I enjoyed the video, it is the same that I encounter in my 2nd district. Those that answer their door bells are very friendly and will listen to your pitch and take your literature. I work as part of a team so that we can cover both sides of the street at one time. This also gives me the opportunity to hear any complaints and write them down for immediate action by those in control of that issue. Sometimes it is neighbors who don't like the flower gardens of the folks across the street. I those cases it is just "Tea and Sympathy" that we can offer. I too look forward to meeting the folks in the 2nd District as I travel on my electric scooter (for the handicapped) CANDIDATE FOR PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD
