Two kayaks capsized near Charles Island in Milford Sunday morning at 9:38 a.m. hours, public safety officials says.
Milford Fire Department located one of the kayakers who was treated for hypothermia and transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
The second kayaker was unaccounted for which launched search and rescue efforts from the Milford Fire Department, Milford Police Department, Coast Guard and Fairfield Police.
According to reports, the two 21 year old male kayakers were not wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.
The DEEP (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has taken over the investigation and further inquiries can be made to their Dispatch Center at (860) 424-3333.
