Thousands of Connecticut Residents Lose Power

Several communities affected

Up to 13,000 Connecticut Light & Power customers without power Thursday.

It has been a wet and windy morning across Connecticut - but for many, a dark one too.

Following stormy weather, thousands of East Connecticut homes lost power Thursday morning. About 13,000 homes were without power late morning, but that number fell to 509, according to Connecticut Light & Power.

In East Lyme, three quarters of the 18,000 residents lost their power. A Connecticut Light & Power spokesman told News 8 that the wires came down at two sub-stations, but she could not confirm how that happened or when repairs would be made.

Meteorologist Scot Haney expects better weather for Friday, but there is a probability for more thunderstorms and showers on Monday, Eyewitness News 3 reports.
