Suspect who is still at large reportedly used the threat of a bomb in his demand for cash from a teller at the Bridgeport Ave bank.

We just received this message from Milford police regarding Tuesday morning's robbery at The Milford Bank's Devon branch (Bridgeport Avenue has reportedly reopened to motorists):

At 8:35 a.m., Milford police received a complaint of a bank robbery at The Milford Bank located at 205 Bridgeport Ave.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a male entered the bank, walked up to an available teller and placed a paper bag on the counter indicating it was a bomb.

The male handed the teller a note and the teller complied with the demands of handing over money to the male.

There were no injuries reported from this incident.

The male is described as a white male wearing an AT&T hard hat, safety glasses, work gloves, a red flannel shirt jacket and dark pants; he is approximately 6 feet tall, having a medium build.

The male fled the bank towards Lenox Avenue where a vehicle may have been parked.

Upon leaving the bank, the male left the bag that he indicated was a bomb at the teller station.

The bank and building surrounding the bank were evacuated as a precaution and vehicle traffic was diverted away from the scene. The Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad was called for assistance to render the scene safe.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., the Bomb Squad determined that there were no explosives in the package and investigators were allowed to enter the bank to conduct an investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jeff Cortes at 203.877.1465.
