Report: Maren Sanchez Murder Suspect Identified

Chris Plaskon has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing fellow Jonathan Law High School junior Maren Sanchez to death early Friday morning in a hallway at the Milford school.

Although there has been no official confirmation from officials investigating the case, Chris Plaskon has been identified as the suspect who stabbed to death fellow Jonathan Law High School junior Maren Sanchez at the school Friday, according to a New York Times report

In various press reports, Plaskon, 16, has been described as a popular, funny and athletic teenager, who was also a longtime friend of Sanchez.

Some have suggested Plaskon's fatal attack on the 16-year-old honor student and former class president may have been spurred by her rejection of his offer to attend that night's junior prom together.

Plaskon has been charged with murder as a juvenile. His lawyer, Richard Meehan, told the The Times, however, that he expected his client would eventually be charged as an adult.

Plaskon has been committed to a psychiatric center and is currently under evaluation for the next several days. He is not expected to appear in court for Monday's arraignment proceedings, according to various press reports.

A community vigil to honor Sanchez has been organized for Monday evening.

There will be no school for Jonathan Law students on Monday.

An online memorial for Sanchez has been set up on Facebook.
