Police Arrest Man Who Allegedly Assaulted Woman at 7-11

An eight-month investigation ends with the arrest of the Bridgeport man.

It's been nearly eight months but Milford police have arrested a man they say is responsible for assaulting a woman outside of 7-11.

The man, who police identified as Jimmy Benscosme, 34, of Bridgeport, was arrested by warrant at 7:45 a.m. today on charges of third-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree breach of peace.

The arrest stems from an incident on Aug. 14, 2011, at the 7-11 on Old Gate Lane in which a verbal argument reportedly led to a physical altercation. said Benscosme allegedly damaged one of the female's car, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against the car. He then fled on foot.

The female victim received medical treatment on scene and was transported to an area hospital for further evalution, police said.

Benscosme's bond was set at $20,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 1.
