15 Vehicles Broken Into In Milford, 6 Targeted for Arson (updated 3:30 p.m.)

Police say the vehicles were left unlocked.

The Milford Police Department is currently investigating theft from and damage to more than 20 vehicles during the overnight hours on Carlson Drive, Breakneck Lane, Mayflower Place and West Mayflower Place on early Monday.

A preliminary investigation revealed suspected arson involving four vehicles and theft from nine vehicles, which included items including GPS units, money and other personal items, a press release states. A majority of the vehicles were left unlocked prior to the incidents, police said.

At a press conference Monday afternoon police said that 15 cars have been broken into and six were targeted for arson, the New Haven Register reports

The Milford Police Department will be communicating with residents in the area regarding the incidents through mass notification messaging with the Milford Alerts system. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles when unattended, secure belongings and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods immediately to the police department.
