Mother Allegedly Steals Daughter's Identity

A woman found that her Milford mother opened a credit card in her name and ran up a $1,268 balance, according to police.

A Milford woman turned herself in on a warrant Saturday after allegedly using her daughter's name to open up a Capital One credit card account.

Diane Dewar, 43, of Viscount Drive was charged with third-degree identity theft, making a false statement, receiving goods and services illegally, illegal use of a credit card and fourth-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Aug. 28.

The victim, a Monroe woman, told police she had run a credit check on herself and learned that a Capital One credit card had been opened in her name in November of 2010, though she had never applied for it, according to police.

She contacted Capital One and was told the card had a $1,268 balance, police said. She recognized the Milford billing address as her mother's. The ensuing police investigation determined that Dewar had opened the account, according to the report.

To clarify, they have 4 cats, and they're only able to take two of them, plus their 14 year old dog.Read More It was a struggle for them to even find a way to get the dog in the rental agreement, otherwise they would have tried to take them. :(

Sad that they had to leave these beauties behind. I'm sure they are heartbroken over it.

Please contact Forgotten Felines in Clinton. They are a no kill cat shelter. Offering "free toRead More a good home" pets is dangerous. There are bad people out there who take them and sell them to research labs or use them as bait in dog fighting. Please rethink this ad.
