Milford Teen, 18, Accused of Breaking Into Cars and Assault

One victim tried to detain the suspect, but was assaulted in the process, police say.

Milford police say John Simko, 18, of Bertrose Avenue, is accused of breaking into vehicles, taking property from within, and allegedly assaulting the owner of one of the cars, police said in a release. 

Police said they received a complaint regarding a person breaking into a parked vehicle on Windsong Lane on Sunday morning. Simko is accused of entering a vehicle and taking property from within it, police said. 

Simko allegedly assaulted the owner of the vehicle, who tried to detain him until police arrived, police said.

Police received a second complaint of a vehicle being broken into on Bertrose Avenue, which Simko was also charged for. Simko was also found to be in possession of marijuana during his arrest, police said. 

He was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of sixth-degree burglary, interfering with police, and possession of marijuana. He was released after posting $2,600 bond.
