39 Counterfeit Bills Seized in Marshalls Arrest

A New Haven woman was arrested for allegedly using counterfeit currency at a Marshalls store in Milford.

Kristina Higgins-Shabazz, age 40 of 21 Mead Street, New Haven, is accused of purchasing clothing valued at $188.15 with counterfeit $10 bills, according to Milford Police.

A second arrest is expected in this investigation for an acquaintance of Higgins-Shabazz's.

Police seized a total of 39 counterfeit bills during the investigation.

Higgins-Shabazz has been charged with 19 counts of first degree forgery, 19 counts of first degree conspiracy to commit forgery, sixth degree larceny and sixth degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

She was released on a promise to appear in court on January 29th, 2013.
