Milford Police Blotter: DUIs, Shoplifting, Crack Possession, Forgery

The following arrest information was provided by the Milford Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Scott Murray, 42, of University Place in New Haven, was charged April 14 with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to police, an officer stopped a vehicle operated by Murray for not traveling in the proper lane on Bridgeport Avenue. During the stop, the officer found Murray in possession of crack cocaine and related drug paraphernalia, police said. Murray was released on a promise to appear in court May 13. 

Gregory Howard, 65, of Carlson Avenue in Milford, was charged April 14 with driving under the influence, failure to illuminate headlights and failure to drive right. According to Milford Police, officers observed a vehicle in a parking lot that almost striking two parked cars, and then exited the lot onto the Boston Post Road with the headlights on the car. During the stop of the vehicle, officers found that Howard was operating while under the influence of alcohol, police said. A breathalyzer test showed that Howard had an elevated blood alcohol level, police said. A bond amount of $500 was set and he is scheduled to appear in court May 15. 

Anne Marie Nehez, 50, of Botsford Avenue in Milford, was charge April 15 with driving under the influence and failure to obey a stop sign. According to Milford Police, the department received a 911 hang-up call from Nehez's cell phone. After making contact, Nehez stated she would meet police at her home. Officers then observed a vehicle operated by Nehez fail to stop at a stop sign on Seaflowler Road and Botsford Avenue. During a stop of the car, officers found Nehez was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyzer test revealed that Nehez had an elevated blood alcohol level, police said. A bond amount of $500 was set and she is scheduled to appear in court May 15.

Herman Bartelle, 49, of Warran Terrace in West Hartford, was charged April 15 with third-degree forgery, fifth-degree larceny, fifth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and third-degree conspiracy to commit forgery. According to police, officers received a complaint regarding a fraudulent business check that was cashed at Webster Bank at 100 South Broad Street on Aug. 23, 2013. An investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Bartelle for his alleged involvement n cashing two fraudulent checks at the bank for a total of $1,996.52. he was released on a promise to appear in court May 13.

James Stellato, 45, of Raycroft Street in Milford, was charged April 11 with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. According to police, officers received a complaint regarding a dispute between two motorists at the intersection of Bridgeport Avenue and Boston Post Road. An investigation led to the arrest of Stellato, who is accused of assaulting the other officer, police said. He was released on a promise to appear in court May 6.

Sarah Turgeon, 23, of Anchorage Drive in Milford, was charged April 12 with possession of narcotics. According to Milford Police, Narcotics & Vice Unit detectives observed a suspicious activity occurring in the parking lot of a  Research Drive business. An investigation led to the arrest of Turgeon, who is accused of being in possession of prescription drugs not prescribed to her, police said. She was released on a promise to appear in court May 6. 

Julie Onofreo, 34, of Waverly Avenue in Milford, was charged April 13 with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. According to Milford Police, officers received a complaint regarding a disturbance at a Waverly Avenue residence. An investigation led to the arrest of Onofreo who is accused of assaulting a relative, police said. She was released on a promise to appear in court April 14. 

Francis Greene, 26, of Barnum Avenue in Stratford, was charged April 13 with third-degree robbery, third-degree assault and sixth-degree larceny. According to police, officers received a complaint of a robbery that occurred at a bus stop on Bridgeport Avenue. An investigation led to the arrest of Greene, who is accused of assaulting an acquaintance taking $100 from her. Police said Greene left the scene on a bicycle and was later taken into custody at his residence, with the assistance of the Stratford Police Department. He was held on a $5,000 bond.

Margaret Flynn, 54, of Poplar Street in New Haven, was charged April 14 with sixth-degree larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and risk of injury to a minor. According to Milford Police, on April 19, 2013 the department received a complaint regarding a shoplifting incident that occurred at the Old Navy store at 1212 Boston Post Road. An investigation found that Flynn and a juvenile took $237.31 worth of merchandise without paying for it, police said. The two then fled the scene on foot, crossing over the Boston Post Road where the juvenile was apprehended. Further investigation led to a warrant being issued for Flynn's arrest. She was released on a promise to appear in court May 6.
