Milford Man Spat On and Used Racial Slur Against a Woman, Police Say

Milford man, 69, charged with intimidation based on bigotry/bias.

Police say John Uberti, 69, of 36 Naugatuck Avenue, is accused of spitting on a female and yelling a racial slur at her, police said in a release. 

Police said on Monday they received a complaint regarding a disturbance on Naugatuck Avenue. Investigation led to the arrest of Uberti, who is accused of causing a disturbance and spitting on a female victim, police said. 

Police spokesman Officer Jeffrey Nielsen said a woman was sitting on a lawn chair and Uberti allegedly approached her yelling at her. He allegedly got in the woman’s face, spat on her, and yelled a racial slur, Nielsen said.

Uberti was charged with second-degree breach of peace and intimidation based on bigotry/bias. He was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court, Milford on August 5.
