A Milford resident is facing child pornography charges — the result of a statewide Connecticut State Police investigation.

According to state police, detectives from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, assisted by members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Sex Offenders Unit, conducted an arrest warrant sweep across the state on Thursday, March 27.

The sweep led to the arrest of 18 individuals, including one local man.

James Brennan,52, of Woodhill Road in Milford, was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. A non-surety bond amount of $50,000 was set and he is scheduled to appear in court April 8.

"After several lengthy and thorough investigations, 18 people from across the state were arrested," state police said in a press release.

The Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Investigations Unit is also the command for Connecticut’s Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force.

OK, everyone. Mea culpa. I'm sorry about the silly error in the post above. Not sure how I missed it, because agreed, it is a glaring one. And I'm honestly a bit embarrassed by it. However, I'd just like to let you know that at the end of January, Patch was bought by new majority owner. With that, most of the company's editorial staff was laid off. Currently, I am one of the six who now remain to help manage the state's 67 Patch sites. This means I now manage the day-to-day operations for 11 sites here in CT, including Milford. Because of this, I am frequently pulled in several directions, and I am unable to focus my editorial efforts on just one or even two towns. And, running so many sites will also mean there is extra opportunity for error. I am not using this as an excuse, just stating this as a fact. Also, I do not have a copy editor, or anyone else reading my work that I post on each of these 11 sites — every single day. I can, however, make you this promise: I will do my best to share city info for residents, news pickups, breaking news, fire/police posts and original features during week the best I can. I have always taken my career and work as a journalist very seriously, and I have always done my best to be as fair, accurate and as error-free as possible. But given our new realities here at Patch, and being spread a bit thin managing so many sites, there will be mistakes from time to time. But I know, dear readers, that you will point them out to me, lol — and for that I am, honestly and eternally, thankful. For the good thing about online posts: is that they are easy to correct in a quick and transparent way. And, as always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at julie.weisberg@patch.com. Thanks again, everyone.

Julie: Ever hear of trolls? People that have nothing better to do than to terrorize other people on a thread and point out every little mistake to try to make themselves look smarter. They are like fleas, almost impossible to get rid of and they come back every day for more. Ignore the trolls.
