K-9 Judge Ranked 10th Out Of 82 Teams in National Competition

Judge, a K-9 officer with the Milford Police Department, is a top dog.

Milford's police dog, Judge, and his handler, Officer Matthew Lima, ranked 10th out of 82 teams in the in the individual "Top Dog" event in a recent national K-9 competition, the Milford Police Department said.

The Region 7 team, including Lima and Judge, placed third in the regional team part of the United States Police Canine Association "National Police Dog Trial 1" in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, according to Officer Jeffrey Nielsen, spokesman for the Milford Police Department.

Just getting into the competition was a win for the city as only the top K-9 teams selected from the United States and Canada were allowed to compete last month, Nielsen said.

"Officer Lima and his K9 partner Judge along with four other law enforcement K9 teams from the New York State area, including NYPD Transit, Yonkers, Middletown and Warwick, represented Region 7 during the event," the Milford Police Department said in a press release.

"The K9 teams competed in events such as obedience, suspect search, article search, agility, and criminal apprehension including a weapon."

I'm proud of our Milford PD. This award is just another feather in their cap. I believe this K9 team was involved in the capture of a criminal this month. RON GOLDWYN the most experienced candidate for PZB. Ben Blake now agrees with me, "Because experience DOES matter" I’d love your vote as a birthday present on Nov. 8th.

Congrats to Matt & K-9 Judge! Lots of training & dedication to get to where they are today!
RONALD M GOLDWYN October 26, 2011 at 05:33 PM
Jennifer, Is propoganda good or bad? I'm trying to get name recognition in an election that permits me to post lawn signs, go door to door, write one letter to the editor in newspapers or to use a signature when I post on Patch. In this my first run for public office, I chose to use every means available. RON GOLDWYN the most experienced candidate for PZB. Even Ben Blake has adopted my slogan in saying, "Because experience DOES matter" I’d love your vote as a birthday present on Nov. 8
