When a fire broke out this afternoon in the kitchen of a 16 Westland Ave. residence, caretaker Missy Infante's first instinct was to make sure that the house's eldery owner was able to get out.
The house's owner got out of the house safely, but sustained minor injuries and was brought by ambulance to a hospital.
"I went outside and got the hose," Infante said, describing how she sprayed water on the fire from outside, to help it subside before the arrived on the scene.
Infante stated that the damage was severe enough that neither she nor the house's owner can live at 16 Westland Ave. until repairs are made to the home.
