Guilty Plea in Thefts of Funds From Milford Rotary and Milford Special Olympics

The former rotary club treasurer faces four years in prison.

Longtime Milford Rotary Club Treasurer Richard Weir pleaded guilty today to taking $260,000 from the Milford Rotary and the Milford Special Olympics organizations, the Connecticut Post reports. 
Weir faces a 12-year prison sentence suspended after four years served, the Post reports. The embezzlement occurred over an 18-year period and new safeguards have been installed to ensure that could not happen again, the Post reports. 
About $3,500 was taken from the Milford Special Olympics. The Milford Rotary sponsors a lot of charitable and civic causes in the Milford community.
