Gobble Up These Stats From Connecticut State Police

Results of the annual Thanksgiving weekend enforcement campaign.


Results are in from Connecticut State Police traffic enforcement effort over the holiday weekend, and the numbers are down slightly from last year.

"Troopers patrolled all roads and highways across Connecticut and focused on drunk driving violations and targeted aggressive drivers," a release states. "Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols were in place over the entire weekend."

The following stats cover the time period starting at midnight on Nov. 27 to midnight on Dec. 1:

  • Speeding: 1,134
  • Seatbelt: 170
  • Hazardous Moving: 2,548
  • DUI: 43
  • Accidents: 562    
  • Accidents with injury: 92      
  • Fatals: 1
  • Total Calls for Service: 10,426

In Comparison, 2012 Statistics

  • Speeding: 1,611
    • Seatbelt: 85
    • Hazardous moving: 2,745
    • DUI: 62 
    • Accidents: 410 
    • Accidents with injury: 59   
    • Fatals: 2

    State Police say they will continue the enforcement operation through the end of this upcoming holiday season.
