East Haven Resident Charged With DUI After Hitting Milford Police Cruiser

The police cruiser was parked along New Haven Avenue when it was struck.

A DUI under any circumstances is bad news, but when you hit a police cruiser that has to the worst. 

Milford police say Tiarani Zaparta, 23, of Laurel Street in East Haven, is accused of striking a parked police vehicle on New Haven Avenue early Saturday. 

During the investigation police determined Zaparta was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. A Breathalyzer test revealed Zaparta had an elevated blood alcohol level, police said.

Zaparta was charged with DUI, failure to drive right and not having insurance. Zaparta was released after posting $500 bond and is due to appear in Superior Court in Milford on August 14.
