Drug Store Robbery Suspect Busted

He allegedly tried to steal nearly $500 worth of Mucinex.

A 39-year-old man has been busted for allegedly trying to steal nearly $500 worth of an over-the-counter decongestant from CVS drug store on Broad Street, police said.

The man, identified as Christopher McLory of East Meadow, N.Y., is accused of taking 17 packages of Mucinex valued at $495 at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

"When stopped by loss prevention, McLory resisted and used force to attempt to flee," police said.

McLory was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny, according to police. He was released on a promise to appear in court, police said.

The motive for the theft was unclear, but health officials have said after similar thefts that Mucinex DM has been misused for its euphoric effects.
