Cops: Man Used Fake Credit Card for Big Screen

Winsted man nabbed for alleged incident in Milford.

A Winsted man was arrested in Milford Wednesday for allegedly using a counterfeit credit card to buy a TV worth $2,000 at the Sears store at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall.

Carlos Dela-Cruz, 41, also allegedly used a fake Delaware ID card during the transaction, police said. In addition, he was found in possession of a counterfeit American Express card, police said.

Dela-Cruz was charged with first-degree forgery, third-degree larceny, criminal impersonation, credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card and unlawful reproduction of a credit card.

The Winsted man was held in lieu of $10,000 bond. He is due in court Jan. 7.
