Cops: Man Shot in Hand in Milford Parking Lot

The accused male attacker is still at large as police reach out to the public for help.

On Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 3:31 a.m., the Milford Police Department received a complaint of a shooting that reportedly occurred in the parking lot of the U.S. Post Office, 548 Naugatuck Ave., Milford.

The complainant claimed he exited his automobile in this location due to an equipment malfunction and was rushed by a male attacker who was armed with a handgun.

The complainant said that a struggle ensued and during the struggle he was shot in his left hand one time. The attacker then fled on foot west through the parking lots in this area towards Lenox Avenue.

After being shot the victim drove himself to Bridgeport Hospital, resulting in the hospital staff contacting our agency to report the shooting.

The attacker is described as being a male, 5-foot-10 with a “husky” build probably in his 30s. The attacker was wearing a green shirt --- no further clothing description.

No further details concerning the description of the attacker was obtained because the complainant said he was focused on the handgun which is described as a semiautomatic.

Police returned to the scene with the complainant after he was treated and an area evidence search was conducted. Police did not locate any evidence confirming a crime scene in that area.

Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the disturbance or heard what they thought to be a gunshot in that area during the overnight hours is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Youd at 203.783.4728 or email dyoud@ci.milford.ct.us.
