Cops: Former Employee Stole Snacks, Coins

Police say investigation is ongoing as they look to track down another suspect.

A former employee of a Milford vending machine company was charged Sunday for allegedly stealing snacks and coins from delivery trucks parked on company property.

Dale Hackley, a former employee of Automated Services, is accused of taking $3,470 worth of vending snacks and coin bags from four trucks in the company's lot at 145 Pepes Farm Road, according to Milford police spokesman Jeff Nielsen.

Police said the alleged incident happened on the evening of Aug. 31 and that Hackley was identified as a suspect via video surveillance footage.

The investigation is ongoing as police look to identify a second suspect, police said.

Hackley, of an uncertain address, was charged with five counts of third-degree burglary, four counts of second-degree criminal mischief, as well as three counts of fifth-degree larceny, fourth-degree larceny and possession of burglar's tools.

The 36-year-old Hackley was held in lieu of $25,000 bond and was expected to be arraigned at Milford Superior Court on Monday.
