A New Haven resident was charged with assault on police for an alleged incident Friday night at the Connecticut Post Mall.
Shakara Ingram, 19, also faces charges of breach of peace and interfering with police.

Police said Ingram and another individual got into a fight at the mall and that during the course of the investigation Ingram punched an officer in the face causing minor injury.
The other combatant, Matthew Sheffield of Hamden, was charged with breach of peace and violation of a protective order as he was prohibited from coming into contact with Ingram.

Sheffield, 20, was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 16.
Ingram’s bond was set at $10,000. He also was due in court Monday.
