Bat Attack in Milford This Weekend

Teen is accused of striking another person with a baseball bat at Walnut Beach.

Milford police say a 17-year-old juvenile is accused of hitting another person the head with a baseball bat Friday night.

Police said they received a complaint regarding a disturbance between a group of people in the parking lot of Walnut Beach.

Investigation led to the arrest of the teen, who is accused of hitting another person in the head with the bat. The victim suffered an injury to his eye and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The juvenile was charged with second-degree assault and was released to their parent.

@Dorothy Bateman - the photo is of the back of city hall and the waterfall near it, not a photo of the Milford Police Dept HQ.

FYI, I live across the street from where the bat attack happened and it was all young middle class white kids that were involved. No one came from affordable housing.

All the time I read about crimes where the charges do not fit the crime. If you hit someone in the head, that is attempted murder, the child should not be released to the parent. A man rapes a boy, and he gets a year in prison. Another man strikes someone in the next with a machete and he is charged with assault. What is going on is that we are tolerating behaviours which should not be tolerated. The prisons should be emptied of all non violent offenders and the dangerous people should be locked up, most of them , for forever. If this does not happen, eventually we will devolve into a society in which people will take the law into their own hands and mete out justice to violent perpetrators. Do we want to live in that type of society?

I lived in Milford for about seven years , on Village Road. In that time I witnessed more drama in that neighborhood than in my previous place in New Haven, CT. The vast majority of the people in my Milford hood were white, middle or upper middle class. Kids roam around aimlessly, doing drugs, talking the inner city "bitch" talk, passing each other around like a sexual carnival. At nite, one could hear loud and abusive arguments going on , out on the street and from within houses. One nite, a man tried to get into a house to harass a former girl friend, and was escorted out of the house by the women's current boyfriend, at gunpoint. I knew some young people who had been attacked by a knife wielding youth at the shopping mall down the street. They said that the attacker had gotten off scott free, because his parents had connections. Like I said, a lot of drama in Milford. I would have expected more in my old New Haven neighborhood, but , in comparison, it was a quieter environment. Perhaps the people of Milford should reflect upon why so many bad things happen in Milford.

I was there, my boyfriend was the one hit in the face (with a tire iron by the way, not a bat.) He suffered a concussion and broken rib along with a few cuts and bumps. Another kid went after our friend and my boyfriend jumped in to defend him, assailant came up behind him and cracked him in the head with a tire iron.
