Accidents Lead to DUI Arrests; Charged with Sunglass Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Milford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Charged with DUI

A 20-year-old Milford man was arrested at 6:49 p.m. July 4 after his vehicle reportedly crashed on West River Street.

Police said the man, who they identified as Ian Maurer of Norway Street, was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to drive right, and possession of fireworks.

After responding to the accident, in which the vehicle rolled over, officers determined that Maurer was operating under the influence, police said. Fireworks were reportedly located in the vehicle during the investigation.

Maurer was not injured in the accident, police said. His bond was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 26.

Arrested for Sunglass Theft

A 28-year-old Guilford woman was arrested at 12:30 p.m. on July 5 on a warrant for allegedly stealing a $265 pair of sunglasses.

Police said an investigation into the May 21 theft at Solstice Sunglass Boutique at the led them to Erica Gambardella of Laurel Brook Drive. She allegedly took the glasses without paying for them.

Gambardella was charged with sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court on July 26.

Accident Leads to DUI Arrest

A car accident near the intersection of Bridgeport Avenue and Spring Street at 2:30 p.m. on July 5 resulted in an arrest for driving under the influence.

Police said an investigation revealed that the driver, who police identified as Peter Licari, 64, of Bridgeport Avenue in Milford, was intoxicated.

Licari was also issued an infraction for failure to carry a license. His bond was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 28.
